The Magic of Mandala Yoga School

The Magic of Mandala Yoga School

This is what some of our 2017 Participants had to share about their experience after graduation…all responses were anonymous

There are many Teacher Training Programs out there, if a friend were considering yoga teacher training, how would you describe this training to them?

– I would let friends know that it is a training that they really need to commit to and be able to focus on. The reason is so that they really embrace what is being taught, rather than doing the minimum. The information taught is so important and interesting. I would also suggest to them to begin practicing yoga on a daily basis prior to the training in preparation for it.

– I would emphasize that it is really focused on learning to be a teach and not quite as much on history etc…which i think is a good thing but everyone is looking for something different. from what i’ve heard from others, it seems like this training is more unique in that way, so many people do not feel confident teaching and adjusting coming out of teacher training but i think all of us are confident and prepared. it was a very warm and accepting environment, no need to conform to certain diets or beliefs which was great. i liked getting direction from different teachers as well.AnonymousWell rounded, absolutely will prepare you to teach, will deepen your practice with these skills, will pique your interest in aspects of yoga (and life!) you have not considered your interest in, the BEST YTT program!

– I would describe it as practical/doable for anyone, especially those working a full time job during the traditional work week. I think, on average, 1 weekend a month is reasonable for most people. I would talk about how wonderfully knowledgeable and supportive the teachers are and how there is a clear focus/desire to ensure participants coming out of this program CAN TEACH. As opposed to learning a lot and teaching very little so the person has to figure it out after they are done and doing it in the real world. I would describe it as sometimes intense and intimidating but reinforce those involved want nothing but the best for us (students) and are willing to help along the way. I would describe it as a very personal journey which MYS understands and appreciates that it is a bit different for everyone.

– A very well-rounded program–a fine balance of topics pertaining to yoga and teaching. So awesome that you have practice teaching so early on. If you truly want to teach–this is the program for you. Gets you into the “seat of the teacher” much earlier than other programs. The teachers are amazing and so well-qualified. You get knowledge about many topics but it’s not overdone. There will always be more to learn, but this training sparks your interest in many areas without disregarding why you’re there—-to learn to teach.

Now that the “formal” training is over, how do you feel you changed as a teacher from Day 1 to now (post-graduation)?

– Day 1 I only had an idea of the physical part of yoga and mindfulness. Beyond this, I was not aware of the foundations. Now, knowing that it is a way of living, I am more inspired to teach and actually apply the whole aspect of yoga.

– I am more inspired to teach. at the start of the program i did want to teach but i also wanted to do the training for myself because i was not sure if i would be a good teacher. now i definitely want to share all that i’ve learned with others!

– I am more confident. I’m better able to look at the bodies in front of me and teach vs. lead. I am more inspired to teach!

– When I started the program I didn’t necessarily plan to teach. I wanted a deeper and more focused understanding of yoga. After completing the teacher training, however, I do plan to teach albeit very part time. I feel much more confident, prepared and inspired to be able to share and exposure others to the beautiful gift that is yoga.

– I have definitely changed in how I feel about teaching. I came into this program wanting to deepen my practice and learn as much as I could for my own sake because I love yoga so much. What I have come away with after graduation is a confidence and desire to share yoga with others because I really can!!! It has been a time of self discovery for me—seeing my capabilities and knowledge grow. I’ve seen a big improvement in my own practice as well–I am learning to pay more attention to each pose and to really activate my body completely. It is a new perspective and I’m so grateful to have been taught to realize this. I was so afraid to get in front of people in our practice teaching, but by doing this regularly, I’m so much more confident in what I can do. Going out of the comfort zone is scary—-but good!!!

Teacher Spotlight – Meet Phyllis Adams

Tell us a little about your Yoga journey?  I began my yoga journey in 2001.  I was on a fitness path and observed that there was a greater picture and path to follow. I went to NC School of Yoga for initial certification and from there have explored and studied under various teachers and systems of yoga over the past 15 years.

What makes you feel most alive?  Discovering new places! Family, friends, and dogs!

What do you love most about Yoga?  What do hope to inspire in others?  I love the aspect of yoga that allows you to move and explore through joy and inspiration from within. I have learned through the practice of Yoga and by sharing my passion that other’s were on board and it has blossomed into a supportive community of likeminded bright souls! My self esteem, self confidence, and general sense of well being has been nurtured through my practice. I hope to be a guide to other’s on their yogic path, and as a teacher I am totally inspired by my students!

What is your favorite quote?  “Wage peace by practicing kindness”

Favorite Yoga pose?  Half Moon

How has Yoga changed your life?  Yoga has changed my life in the sense that I have been inspired to seek purpose, self awareness, and trust.

What do you think are some of the biggest challenges people face when they begin to practice Yoga?  To show up without expectations and enjoy the ride!

What do you want people to take away from your classes?  I want students to leave with a sense of feeling accomplished whatever that is for them on any given day!  Sometimes that is by simply showing up! I love smiles and have a playful approach to my practice and style of teaching.

What tools do you think are essential for starting a Yoga practice?  Attitude is as important as a willingness to explore and be receptive to new things!

Kim Krause – Client Spotlight

Kim Krause – Client Spotlight
“Truly Life Changing”, Kim’s 3-words for how she would describe studioVIBE…and Kim that means so much to all of us!

Tell us about you…where were you born and how did you end up in Cary, NC?
My husband (Don) and I both grew up and went to school in the Northeast (Go ‘Cuse!). After years of battling baby snowsuits, poor economies and job markets we did what everyone in 1998 seemed to do…. packed up our young family and moved to Cary, NC! As the 50,000+ people that followed will attest, it was the best decision we have ever made. My parents followed almost immediately, my brother (just recently), and we hope to have my sister-in-law and her family here soon as well.

Word has it you have known Patty Geiger for a while…tell us more?
Patty and I have known each other for close to 20 years! Within weeks of moving, we joined the Cary YMCA and there was Patty! She has inspired the best in me from the start. Although, through circumstance, our paths have come together and apart over the years, she has always felt like a constant in my life. Her energy and light have always made me smile and helped me flourish. I am so proud to be a part of this incredible community she has conceived and built around herself.

So then what got you in to studioVIBE?
It’s a familiar story……… as my family aged, we become busier and I was more focused on raising my children (Tori – now 24 and Evan – now 21) than on my own growth. As I approached a milestone birthday and my nest emptied, I recommitted myself to getting in shape. I promised myself that after I reached my goal, my reward would be to join Studiovibe. Of course, I never felt I was ‘there yet’. Last Christmas (2015) my husband surprised me with the gift of Patty 🙂 and yoga and the encouragement to go ‘now’. It ended up being a life changing gift.

You have been coming regularly, what classes are you taking?
Originally, I began taking the yoga classes I had looked forward to joining but just several weeks in, Patty casually commented that my body had loved Pilates (I had taken some beginning mat classes with her years ago) so I signed up for a Pilates Primer class. Just over one year later, I am hooked; perhaps mildly addicted! I typically take 1-2 yoga classes, a mat Pilates class, an Intermediate Pilates Reformer class and have just begun a new Advanced Mat Pilates class every week.

What changes have you noticed since coming to the studio?
Everything! Have I mentioned the “Life Changing” part? I am amazed at not only the transformation my body has undergone but also my spirit: I am happier, more confident, my concentration has increased and I have so much energy.

What is your favorite part about coming to our studio?
Every morning I look forward to my time at the studio and my time with each instructor and my fellow clients. Every instructor has had the confidence in me that I may not always have in myself to push me to succeed more and more each day. I leave every session feeling accomplished, energized and excited to do it again tomorrow! It’s so much more than a work-out place, it is a true community that extends beyond the studio. I love the fact that I work out beside like-minded 20 year olds and 60 year olds every day, partake in a monthly book club at the Studio and attend the Holiday Market and participate in charitable causes each year.

What was your favorite vacation and why?
It’s hard to pick just one……. any vacation with my family is my favorite! We love the beach and we loveWhat would you tell someone who thinks they are too out of shape to do Pilates soccer fields. Both Tori and Evan played soccer growing up, hence we spent almost every weekend away at a soccer game. Evan currently plays for UNC Chapel Hill and Tori is on staff with UNC’s women’s team (she played for Davidson college as an undergrad) so soccer travel is still a large part of our life. When we’re not at a game, we will always pick the beach!

Any last minute thoughts for someone contemplating walking in our doors?
Don’t wait, as I did, for the perfect time …….. do it now, do it today. Wherever you are in your journey, it is the perfect time to add Studiovibe.  Just over one year ago in the Pilates Primer class I was certain I wouldn’t make it to the end but I was encouraged and pushed by the instructor and not only did I make it to the end, I came back, and back, and back. Several months later, I watched a Reformer class and thought, ‘wow— wouldn’t that be great!’. Again, I was encouraged to try. I was pushed and encouraged to success and not only did I do it, I am now working on advanced exercises on the Reformer! Conversely, I would tell the same to anyone already in terrific shape………. there is always more to discover in Pilates, always a little more to pull out and little more to work. It may seem a daily practice would become stale but the inspirational instructors at StudioVibe are exceptional in their knowledge and experience and are always able to make it more challenging (and more rewarding!).  I am so thankful for each and every one of them!!!

Our turn to give thanks…
Kim Krause is a true “ray of sunshine” at our studio!  She is so hard-working and committed and super friendly to everyone.  We actually had a new client ask if she worked at the studio because she knew so many people’s names!  #GottaLoveKim

Thank you Kim for sharing a bit of your “personal story” with everyone. xoxo

Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga Teacher Training has been a part of studioVIBE for the last 4 years.  We hosted InnerLight Yoga School since 2012 … this year we are excited to continue the tradition with an exciting NEW Yoga Teacher Training Program: Mandala Yoga School!  Many of the teachers from Innerlight Yoga School will be continuing which we are super excited about.  They are excellent at what they do and committed to guiding you on your journey.  MYS has a unique approach to yoga teacher training and is committed to teaching the “art of teaching”. Through our skillful approach to teaching yoga, you will enhance your skills to grow as both a teacher and student. We will provide you with a steady foundation that will encourage you to thrive and explore your fullest potential. The methodology of Mandala Yoga School will help you to teach with steadiness, clarity, ease, and grace. You will be given opportunities to teach the group on all aspects of yoga to deepen your personal understanding, raise your confidence, and move forward on your path as a bodhisattva.

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING is a big step, a personal step, the start of an adventure, a journey into self-discovery, a time to create your mandala! The most important and impactful guru you will ever get to know lies within you. At the heart of The MYS training will be the 8 Limbs of yoga, exploring, understanding, and learning our responsibility as a yogi and as a teacher, guiding others on the path.

Mandala Yoga School will meet you where you are and take you where you want to go! Whether you are looking to be a rockstar teacher or delve deeper into yoga for personal growth, the faculty of Mandala Yoga School will point you in the right direction.

MYS has created a systematic method for “teaching teachers to teach”. Our method works and we will be there by your side during the training and beyond. There are historically a
percentage of people who enter a yoga teacher training not planning on teaching. Some are surprised to discover they do have this desire and gift of sharing yoga.  Through finding your voice in asana, philosophy, and methodology you will deepen your own personal practice and understanding of yoga…it is a life-changing experience you will remember and treasure forever.

The Yoga Teacher Training Program through Mandala Yoga School is credentialed with The Yoga Alliance and following successful completion of your training you will be able to apply to be an RYT 200, Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-Hour Level.

If you have already completed a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and would like to refine your skills and deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy, asanas, and principles we are offering the full Mandala Yoga School Training for $1499.
