The Wisdom of Yoga – A Weekend with Lila Brown

The Wisdom of Yoga
Creating Harmony in Mind, Body, & Spirit

with Lila Brown

The practice of Yoga has always been a way to align with Nature and its wisdom. Throughout the seasons, we practice specific postures that invite balance to the system, at certain times of the day and year creating more heat and stoking the inner fire, and at other times creating more cooling energy to nourish the flow of water and life. In a similar way, Nature through its expression within the astrological framework has given people access to the intelligence inherently lying in the constellations and planets. The symbolism and myths within the Cosmos and their significance in the human psyche are powerful tools for awakening.

Each class during this weekend of workshops will weave together the natural wisdom of yoga with the astrological myths and symbolism in practices that both invite transformation and create harmony within the body, mind, and spirit.

Attend any combination of sessions or make it your own local “retreat” weekend!

Client Spotlight – Meet Donna Hankin

“I feel much stronger in my core & walk taller!”   Donna Hankin

What brought you in to studioVIBE?

My husband Lee & I first started with personal sessions with Patty as he was      recovering from hip replacement surgery. His goal was to become more   flexible & stronger…me, I always look for opportunities to tone & trim. (I know 80% of it is nutrition but exercise is key for the mindset!)

How long have you been taking Pilates?

It’s now been over 2 years & I have become a fan of the tower & reformer classes.  Pilates Equipment takes you to a whole new level with what you can accomplish.

Since you have been coming to studioVIBE, what do you look forward to the most?

In addition to a great workout I love visiting with the other clients at class – we’ve gotten to know each other & keep up with our activities & families.  We work hard and you can feel that the others are “rooting you on”.

What changes have you noticed since coming to the studio?

I feel much stronger in my core & walk taller!

What would you tell someone who think Pilates is “easy”?

Like most other things you get out of it what you put into it – every time I see improvement there a bit more to push for!

What would you tell someone who thinks they are too out of shape to do Pilates?

The instructors at studioVIBE are very good at helping beginners & offering alternatives for those just getting started…don’t hesitate we’ve all been beginners.DonnaHankin2

Any other stories, insights, or reflections that you would like to share?

StudioVIBE is unlike most other gyms – the instructors, clients & associates are all very caring & encouraging. In addition there are opportunities to visit socially, support local businesses & charities, and the positive energy can absolutely impact your health.

Donna & Lee Hankin, along with their daughters Karly & Jen, are the owners of Joint Venture Jewelry and peachy keen (clothing store) in Cary.

Pilates Strengthens You Mentally & Physically – Client Spotlight

Pilates is for all makes and models of people.  It strengthens you mentally and physically.  – Wendi Lester, studioVIBE client

What brought you in to studioVIBE?  My sister talked about Pilates and how it was helping her strengthen her back for running marathons.  I thought I should give it a try – I had a shoulder injury and I needed PT and this seemed like more fun than lifting weights at a a regular gym.
How long have you been taking Pilates? I started in May 2012
Since you have been coming to studioVIBE, what do you look forward to the most?  The camaraderie with the other folks in the class and the teachers.
What changes have you noticed since coming to the studio? I find more ways to be active in daily life.
What would you tell someone who think Pilates is “easy”?  I would say, 1) they probably aren’t doing it right and 2) they should tell the instructor that they would like to be challenged, and at studioVIBE, they will be!!!!
What would you tell someone who thinks they are too out of shape to do Pilates?  Pilates is for all makes and models of people.  It strengthens you mentally and physically.  If you want to have more energy and be “in shape” then Pilates is for you – no matter what shape you are in now.  I’ve lost over 50 pounds since I started Pilates, it has been a combination of nutrition and cardio exercise combined with the strengthening from Pilates and I am in the best shape of my life (and I was a college athlete)!  I LOVE it!!!!!

Everyone needs a team for support and accountability.  The studioVIBE Tribe is AWESOME at that.  You feel welcome, always, and you feel missed if you can’t make a class.  It is a wonderful group of people and I am grateful to be part of this community!
