Joe Taft believes in the power of Yoga to transform oneself physically, mentally and spiritually. Joe has been teaching in Asheville, North Carolina since 2001. He offers weekly classes, workshops, and is a member of the Asheville Yoga Center’s teacher’s training faculty. Joe’s teaching style is a synthesis of dedicated hard work, deep study, and a unique fusion of various schools of yoga, which culminates in a powerful system of yoga that is easy to grasp and practice.
Joe’s yoga evolved out of a devoted path of seeking self-expression through various athletic mediums in which he become an accomplished competitor and instructor: tennis, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding. He earned a BS in Recreational Management from Mars Hill University in 1996. His yoga is an amalgamation of in-depth knowledge of body mechanics, a well studied understanding of the complexities of movement, and his own personal journey on a spiritual path. He has restored balance to his body after multiple athletic injuries, and helped guide his students through this methodology on their own path of healing. His therapeutic approach is highly regarded by students who are grateful for his knowledge and devotion.

Joe (E-RYT500) is a former Certified Anusara® He has had the good fortune to study with some of the world’s best teachers of asana, yogic philosophy and meditation. Joe has dedicated himself to asana practice since 1995 and infuses his classes with a life-affirming philosophy through myths and story-telling. He finds his own trials and tribulations as his primary teacher on this journey called LIFE. Joe values humor in all aspects of life, which makes his classes a fun and safe experience for everyone. Joe believes in the practice of yoga to heal, empower and transform lives.

The Holiday Season can be stressful for many of us. Meditation is the perfect way to help relieve that stress. In this workshop, learn about and experience the benefits of several different types of meditation including, guided meditation, mindfulness meditation, Tratak – candle gazing, and Yoga Nidra.

All levels welcome and encouraged! Bring a friend or just come and meet other like-minded people. Meditation has many benefits, many of which can be used to:

• quiet your mind
• relieve stress
• reduce chronic pain• lower blood pressure
• connect to your intuition
• increase your overall feeling of well-being.
